Healing Balm

This Healing Balm will help heal boo boos, soften hands, and heal bug bites. It is inspired by the healing song "Sana Que Sana" on our music playlist and the story "Black Phoebe, Viudito de Río" about the time cousin Carlos from Chile is bitten up by mosquitos. Once you have all the materials, you can make it in 15 minutes!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 oz beeswax
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil or olive oil
  • 10 drops lavender essential oil
  • 10 drops tea tree or peppermint essential oil

Equipment

  • You will need 2 little jars to hold salve, about 4 oz each. If you are giving them as gifts, you may want to purchase small tins, but you can also reuse clean jars from your house. You will also need a double boiler or a small sauce pan with a stainless steel bowl that rests on the rim but doesn’t touch the bottom. 

Method
 

  1. Set up your double boiler to heat water in the sauce pan on medium-low heat. Melt the beeswax in the top part.
  2. Add the coconut oil and essential oil drops. Mix well and turn off the heat. 
  3. Carefully pour the salve into containers to cool and harden. You’re done!
