Harvest Sea Grape leaves to make these beautiful natural postcards. It’s a great project for kids of all ages!
Materials: Permanent marker, stamps.
Cost: $0.55
Instructions:
Collect sea grape leaves. Sea Grape, known as Coccolobo uvifera, can be found in South Florida, some Caribbean islands, and the coastal parts of Texas. Plan your trip now! Or, try to find leaves in your backyard that have similar qualities: will dry flat, tough, and at least 5 or 6 inches wide.
Dry the leaves under something heavy, like a book. Leave them there until they dry (about 2-3 weeks, depending on your climate.)
When the leaves are dry, write your note and the recipient’s address. The leaves are small, so use a permanent marker with a thin tip so you can get the whole address on the post card.
Stick the postcard in the mail and the post office will do the rest of the work! We’ve sent these postcards as far as California. Where will you send your postcards?
